Welcome to the Savannah Streetcar Design District!
SHOP • DINE • DESIGN
A part of Savannah is growing – right before everyone eyes. Many know of the Thomas Square Streetcar Historic District that resides north of Anderson Lane to Victory Street, and Montgomery Street on the west side, stretching to East Broad Street. The area was a “streetcar suburb” when the electric streetcar ran along Whittaker Street through the district from 1888 to 1920. In 1997 it was designated a National Register Historic District. (Historic Savannah Foundation). This is where we get the name.
The Savannah Streetcar Design District is a unified LOCAL business promotion for the Midtown area including the Victorian, Thomas Square Historic Streetcar, and Starland Districts. This includes a directory where visitors and locals alike can find the local businesses in our area to “shop, dine, & design.”
